Hood Replacement
Removal Procedure
Caution: When a hood hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.
1. Apply tape to corners of panel and adjacent surfaces to help prevent paint damage.
2. Remove the air inlet grille panel extension. (1).
3. Remove the assist rods. Refer to Assist Rod Replacement - Hood (Service and Repair) .
4. Remove the hinge pivot bolts (3).
5. Remove the hood (1) with an assistant.
Installation Procedure
1. Position the hood (1) into position with an assistant.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
2. Install the hinge pivot bolts (3) in order to retain the hood (1) with an assistant.
Tighten the bolts to 11 N.m (97 lb in).
3. Install the assist rods. Refer to Assist Rod Replacement - Hood (Service and Repair) .
4. Align the hood (1) as needed. Refer to Hood Adjustment (Adjustments) .
5. Remove the tape.
