88. EGR Valve and Pipe Installation
Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) and EGR Pipe InstallationImportant: Inspect the EGR inlet/outlet pipes for leaks before installation. If cracks, deformations or any visible signs of leaking are present, replace the appropriate part.
1. Install the EGR inlet pipe into the RH exhaust manifold as the EGR valve adapter assembly is installed onto the cylinder head.
Notice: Refer to Service Precautions.
2. Install the EGR valve adapter assembly to cylinder head bolts and the EGR inlet pipe to RH exhaust manifold bolt.
^ Tighten the EGR valve adapter assembly to cylinder head bolts to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
^ Tighten the EGR inlet pipe to RH exhaust manifold bolt to 29 Nm (21 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the EGR valve outlet pipe to the lower intake and the EGR valve adapter assembly.
4. Install the EGR valve outlet pipe bolt and nut.
^ Tighten the EGR valve outlet pipe bolt and nut to 29 Nm (21 ft. lbs.).
5. Install the EGR valve gasket and EGR valve.
6. Install the EGR valve nuts.
^ Tighten the EGR valve nuts to 29 Nm (21 ft. lbs.).
