Evaporator Hose Assembly Replacement
EVAPORATOR HOSE ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT
TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Remove the evaporator hose bolt from the condenser.
3. Remove the evaporator hose from the condenser.
4. Remove the evaporator hose nut from the evaporator.
5. Remove the evaporator hose and the accumulator tube from the evaporator.
6. Remove the clip (1) retaining the evaporator hose to the frame rail.
7. Remove the evaporator hose from the vehicle.
8. Remove and discard the O-rings from the evaporator hose and the accumulator tube.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the new O-rings to the evaporator hose and the accumulator tube.
2. Position the evaporator hose in the vehicle.
3. Install the evaporator hose and the accumulator tube to the evaporator.
4. Install the evaporator hose nut to the evaporator.
Tighten the nut to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
5. Install the evaporator hose into the clip (1) at the frame rail and fasten the clip.
IMPORTANT: If the clip was damaged during removal, install a new clip.
6. Install the evaporator hose to the condenser.
7. Install the evaporator hose bolt to the condenser.
Tighten the bolt to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).
8. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
9. Leak test the fittings of the A/C component using the J 39400-A.
