Front Door Window Glass: Service and Repair

Window Replacement - Front Door

Removal Procedure





Caution: Refer to Glass and Sheet Metal Handling Caution in Cautions and Notices.
Caution: Refer to Express Window Down Caution in Cautions and Notices.
1. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Front Door (Service and Repair) .
2. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement - Front Door Service and Repair
3. Remove the door control module.
4. Remove the window inner belt molding. Refer to Sealing Strip Replacement - Front Door Window Belt Inner (Front Side Door Window Belt Inner Sealing Strip Replacement) .
5. Remove the window outer belt molding. Refer to Sealing Strip Replacement - Front Door Window Belt Outer (Front Side Door Window Belt Inner Sealing Strip Replacement) .
6. Reconnect power to the window.
7. Lower the window regulator in order to access the window clamps through the access hole.




8. Depress the tabs on the window clamp (2) in order to release the window from the regulator.




9. Remove the window by tilting the window forward then pulling the window up and out of the door.



Installation Procedure






Important: The window regulator should be at least half way down before installing the window.


1. Install the window down into the door.

1. Tilt the front edge of the window downward.
2. Locate the front of the window into the window channel.
3. Align the rear of the window into the channel.
4. Rotate the rear of the window back to the level position.
5. Slide the window down to the window clamps.





2. Locate the window (1) into the 2 window regulator to window clamps (2).
3. Install the window outer belt molding. Refer to Sealing Strip Replacement - Front Door Window Belt Outer (Front Side Door Window Belt Inner Sealing Strip Replacement) .
4. Install the window inner belt molding. Refer to Sealing Strip Replacement - Front Door Window Belt Inner (Front Side Door Window Belt Inner Sealing Strip Replacement) .
5. Adjust the window. Refer to Window Adjustment - Front Door (Adjustments) .
6. Install the water deflector. Refer to Water Deflector Replacement - Front Door Service and Repair
7. Install the door trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Side Front Door (Service and Repair) .
