DIC WARNING MESSAGES

CHANGE OIL SOON
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the CHANGE OIL SOON message in the DIC when the PCM/ECM determines that the engine oil life is less than 5 percent. The PCM/ECM sends a class 2 message to the IPC requesting the display of the CHANGE OIL MESSAGE in the DIC. After the oil is changed, reset the engine oil monitor. Refer to Driver Information Center (DIC) Description and Operation in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console or to GM Oil Life System - Resetting in Maintenance and Lubrication.

KM/H AND MPH INDICATORS

km/h
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the km/h indicator when the metric units is selected from the switch (if equipped with the base IPC U2E) or selected from the DIC information switch (if equipped with uplevel IPC UH8).

MPH
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the MPH indicator when the metric units is requested from the switch (if equipped with the base IPC U2E) or selected from the DIC information switch (if equipped with uplevel IPC UH8).

LOW FUEL
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the Low Fuel indicator when the IPC receives a class 2 message indicating the fuel level remaining from the PCM/ECM.

LOW FUEL
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the LOW FUEL message in the DIC when the IPC receives a class 2 message indicating the fuel level remaining from the PCM/ECM (if equipped with uplevel IPC UH8).

LOW OIL LEVEL
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the LOW OIL LEVEL message in the DIC when the PCM/ECM detects a low engine oil level condition and the low oil level switch signal circuit is high. The PCM/ECM monitors the signal circuit of the engine oil level switch for a brief period when the key moves from ON to START to determine the oil level. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the PCM/ECM requesting display of the LOW OIL LEVEL message in the DIC (if equipped with uplevel IPC UH8).

LOW OIL PRESSURE
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the Low Oil Pressure indicator when the PCM/ECM detects a low engine oil pressure condition and the engine oil pressure sensor signal circuit is low. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the PCM/ECM requesting display of the Low Oil Pressure indicator.

LOW OIL PRESSURE
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the LOW OIL PRESSURE message in the DIC when the PCM/ECM detects a low engine oil pressure condition and the engine oil pressure sensor signal circuit is low. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the PCM/ECM requesting display of the LOW OIL PRESSURE message in the DIC (if equipped with uplevel IPC UH8).

ENGINE OIL LEVEL/CHANGE ENGINE OIL
The instrument panel cluster (IPC) displays the Engine Oil Level/Change Engine Oil indicator when the PCM/ECM determines that the engine oil life is less than 5 percent. The PCM/ECM sends a class 2 message to the IPC requesting the display of the indicator. After the oil is changed, reset the engine oil monitor. Refer to GM Oil Life System - Resetting in Maintenance and Lubrication.

SERVICE VEHICLE SOON
The instrument panel cluster displays the SERVICE VEHICLE SOON indicator when the PCM/ECM detects certain vehicle malfunctions that are not related to the emissions system. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the PCM/ECM requesting display of the Service Vehicle Soon indicator.

SERVICE VEHICLE SOON
The instrument panel cluster displays the SERVICE VEHICLE SOON message in the DIC when the PCM/ECM detects certain vehicle malfunctions that are not related to the emissions system. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the PCM requesting the display of SERVICE VEHICLE SOON message in the DIC (if equipped with uplevel IPC UH8).
