Condition

Some customers may comment on a power steering clunk type noise or a rubbing feel/noise when making left or right turns at slow speeds. This condition is most noticeable during parking lot maneuvers.

Correction

DO NOT replace the steering gear for this concern.

If the customer's concern can be duplicated, replace the intermediate shaft with a new designed shaft, GM P/N 25810450. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement in SI. This new design intermediate shaft eliminates the clunk or looseness in the steering when performing parking lot maneuvers or low speed turns.
