Windshield Wiper Drive Link Disconnected from Motor Crank Arm

Attention:
This bulletin applies to vehicles built prior to February 25, 2006. Use GMVIS to determine build date.

Condition

Some customers may comment that the windshield wipers are inoperative while attempting to clear heavy snow from the windshield prior to driving.

Cause

This condition may be caused by the drive link of the wiper system being separated from the motor crank arm when movement of the wipers is restricted due to heavy snow build-up after the vehicle is parked.

Correction

DO NOT attempt to reattach the drive link to the motor crank arm.

DO NOT replace the motor for this condition. The wiper motor can be transferred to the new transmission assembly.

Replace the wiper transmission assembly. Refer to the Wiper Transmission Replacement procedure in SI.
