B3618

DTC B3618

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The exterior trunk release switch is located just under the lip of the deck lid in the license plate pocket area. As a vehicle with locked doors is approached with a key fob and the exterior trunk release switch is pressed, the keyless entry antenna transmitter broadcasts a challenge approximately in a 1-meter range to the key fob. If the response from the key fob via radio frequency (RF) is a valid response, the locked door will be passively unlocked/unlatched allowing the trunk to be opened.

DTC DESCRIPTOR
This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC:
DTC B3618 Exterior Trunk Release Switch Circuit

CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING THE DTC
The remote control door lock receiver (RCDLR) will only run the DTC when the vehicle system voltage is greater than 9 volts.

CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
The RCDLR will set DTC B3618 when the exterior trunk release switch circuit is shorted to ground for more than 3 minutes.

ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
The RCDLR will set and store a DTC B3618.

CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
- The RCDLR no longer detects an open, short to power or short to ground on the exterior trunk release switch circuit.
- The use of a scan tool

TEST DESCRIPTION

Step 1 - Step 9:

The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.
2. This step verifies that DTC B3618 is a current DTC.
3. This step tests for a ground in the exterior trunk release switch signal circuit. The exterior rear compartment lid release state is normally in an open state. Continuity between the exterior trunk release signal circuit and ground would indicate a short to ground in the circuit or an exterior rear compartment lid release switch that is continually closed.
