Cut, Groove or Worn Center Pillar Upper Garnish Molding at Seat Belt Opening on Driver and/or Passenger Side (Install New Designed Left and Right Center Pillar Upper Garnish Moldings)

This bulletin is being revised to update the parts RPO information as well as the correction section. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 07-08-110-004A (Section 08 - Body and Accessories).

Condition

Some customers may comment on a cut, groove or worn center pillar upper garnish molding at the seat belt opening on the driver and/or passenger side.

Cause





The seat belt may rub the center pillar upper garnish molding leaving a grooved mark in the soft plastic upper molding as shown above.

Correction

Install the new updated left and right center pillar upper garnish moldings using the steps below.

Move the front seat to the full forward position.





Do not pry on the seat belt finish panel. The seat belt finish panel has plastic retainers which will release by pushing in and up as shown in the illustration above.

Remove the seat belt finish panel by pushing in and up on the panel to release the retaining tabs from the front seat trim panel.





The four retainers (1) on the center pillar upper garnish molding will need to be released from the center pillar lower garnish molding.

Remove the center pillar upper garnish molding. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Garnish Molding Replacement in SI.

Install the new center pillar upper garnish molding. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Garnish Molding Replacement in SI.

Install the side seat belt trim cover.

Repeat this entire procedure on the opposite side of the vehicle.
