Body - Door Glass Won't Open in Extreme Cold

Door Glass Will Not Open In Cold Ambient Temperatures (Modify Sealing Strip and Install Glass Stabilizer)

2006 Buick Lucerne

Condition

Some customers may comment that the door glass will not open in cold ambient temperatures.

Cause

The door glass may be frozen to the outer belt sealing strip.

Correction

1. Remove the outer belt sealing strip following the procedures in SI.

2. Using a razor blade, carefully remove the whole lower sealing strip from the molding.

3. Before the sealing strip is reinstalled, clean the glass and apply a coating of *Aquapel(R) Glass Treatment to the door glass following the manufacturer's recommendations.

4. Reinstall the outer belt sealing strip following the procedures in SI.

5. Remove the inner belt sealing strip following the procedures in SI.





6. Install a glass stabilizer to the inner belt sealing flange.

7. Install the inner belt sealing strip following the procedures in SI.
