Timing Cover: Service and Repair



ENGINE FRONT COVER REPLACEMENT

Removal Procedure






1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Service and Repair

2. Remove the engine control module (ECM) module. Service and Repair






3. Remove the generator assembly. Service and Repair






4. Remove the coolant overflow reservoir. Service and Repair






5. Remove the power steering reservoir. Service and Repair

6. Remove the camshaft covers. Service and Repair

7. Remove the upper radiator hose. Service and Repair

8. Remove the coolant outlet. Service and Repair






9. Remove the water pump. Service and Repair

10. Remove the engine splash shield.







11. Remove the crankshaft balancer. 15. Crankshaft Balancer Removal

12. Remove the drive belt tensioner. Service and Repair






Important: There are a total of 22 M8 bolts that must be removed and 3 optional M12 bolts that may need to be removed before the front cover will separate from the engine block.

Installation Procedure

2. Install the water pump. Service and Repair

3. Install the camshaft covers. Service and Repair

4. Install the drive belt tensioner. Service and Repair






5. Install the crankshaft balancer. 134. Crankshaft Balancer Installation






6. Install the coolant overflow reservoir. Service and Repair






7. Install the power steering reservoir. Service and Repair

8. Install the upper radiator hose. Service and Repair

9. Install the coolant outlet. Service and Repair






10. Install the generator assembly. Service and Repair

11. Install engine splash shield.






12. Install the ECM module. Service and Repair

13. Connect the negative battery cable. Service and Repair
