Fuel Pressure Gage Installation and Removal

Fuel Pressure Gage Installation and Removal

Tools Required

CH-48027 Digital Pressure Gage

Installation Procedure

Caution: Gasoline or gasoline vapors are highly flammable. A fire could occur if an ignition source is present. Never drain or store gasoline or diesel fuel in an open container, due to the possibility of fire or explosion. Have a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher nearby.

1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield
2. Unscrew and remove the fuel pressure service port cap.
3. From the CH-48027, assemble the CH-48027-2 (2) and the CH-48027-3 (4).

Caution: Wrap a shop towel around the fuel pressure connection in order to reduce the risk of fire and personal injury. The towel will absorb any fuel leakage that occurs during the connection of the fuel pressure gage. Place the towel in an approved container when the connection of the fuel pressure gage is complete.

4. Wrap a shop towel around the fuel pressure service port.
5. Install the CH-48027-3 (4) fitting to the fuel pressure service port.
6. Turn ON the ignition.

Caution: Do not drain the fuel into an open container. Never store the fuel in an open container due to the possibility of a fire or an explosion.

7. Place the bleed hose on the CH-48027-2 (2) into an approved gasoline container.
8. Open the valve on the CH-48027-2 (2) in order to bleed the air from the fuel pressure gage.
9. Command the fuel pump ON with a scan tool.
10. Close the valve on the CH-48027-2 (2).

Removal Procedure

1. Place the bleed hose on the CH-48027-2 (2) into an approved container and open the bleed valve in order to bleed the air from the CH-48027-2 (2).
2. Place a shop towel under the CH-48027-3 (4) fitting in order to catch any remaining fuel spillage.
3. Remove the CH-48027-3 (4) from the fuel pressure service port.
4. Drain any fuel remaining in the CH-48027-2 (2) into an approved container.
5. Install the fuel pressure service port cap.
6. Remove the fuel injector sight shield.
