Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to SIR Caution (SIR Caution).
Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.
Important: The radio incorporates electronic memory for the clock and pre-selected radio stations, reprogramming is not necessary.
1. Ensure all lamps and accessories are OFF.
2. Ensure the ignition switch is in the OFF position.
3. Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement (Rear Seat Cushion Replacement).
4. Loosen the negative battery cable bolt (2).
5. Separate the negative battery cable (1) from the battery.
Installation Procedure
Important: Clean any existing oxidation from the contact face of the battery and battery cable using a wire brush prior to installing the battery cable to the battery.
1. Position the negative battery cable (1) to the battery.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice).
2. Tighten the negative battery cable bolt (2).
Tighten the bolt to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).
3. Install the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement (Rear Seat Cushion Replacement).
