Battery Replacement

Removal Procedure




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair).
2. Unsnap the positive battery cable cover (3), and reposition.
3. Loosen the positive battery cable bolt (1).
4. Separate the positive battery cable (2) from the battery.




5. Remove the battery vent tube from the battery.




6. Remove the battery hold down bolt and hold down.
7. Remove the battery.


Installation Procedure




1. Install the battery.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice).

2. Install the battery hold down and bolt.

Tighten the bolt to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).





Important: Ensure that the vent tube is properly routed through the floor pan grommet.


Important: Replacement batteries may require the vent plug in the battery vent hole to be moved from one end of the battery to the other to permit vent tube installation per original design.


3. Install the battery vent tube to the battery.




4. Position the positive battery cable (2) to the battery.
5. Tighten the positive battery cable bolt (1).

Tighten the bolt to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).

6. Snap the positive battery cable cover (3) closed.
7. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair).
