Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement (L26) (3.8L)

Removal Procedure
1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging).
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (Service and Repair) for the 3.8L engine.
3. Remove the A/C compressor hose nut from the condenser.
4. Disconnect the A/C compressor hose from the condenser.
5. Remove the A/C compressor hose nut from the evaporator tube.
6. Remove the A/C compressor hose from the evaporator tube.
7. Remove the A/C compressor hose nut from the A/C compressor.
8. Remove the A/C compressor hose from the A/C compressor.
9. Remove and discard all sealing washers.
Installation Procedure
1. Install new sealing washers onto the A/C compressor hose assembly. Refer to Air Conditioning System Seal Replacement (Air Conditioning System Seal Replacement).
2. Install the A/C compressor hose to the A/C compressor.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).
3. Install the A/C compressor hose nut to the A/C compressor.
Tighten the nut to 17 Nm (12.5 lb ft).
4. Install new seals washers to the A/C compressor hose assembly and evaporator tube. Refer to Air Conditioning System Seal Replacement (Air Conditioning System Seal Replacement).
5. Install the A/C compressor hose to the evaporator tube.
6. Install the A/C compressor hose to evaporator tube nut.
Tighten the nut to 17 Nm (12.5 lb ft).
7. Install the A/C compressor hose to the condenser.
Note: Use a 20 mm wrench or pliers to hold the A/C condenser block fitting, this will prevent the A/C line from twisting while torquing the A/C line nut.
8. Install the A/C compressor hose nut to the condenser.
Tighten the nut to 17 Nm (12.5 lb ft).
9. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (Service and Repair) for the 3.8L engine.
10. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging (Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging).
11. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A .
