J 36604 Door Hinge Spring Compressor

Removal Procedure

1. Open the front door.




2. Support the door in the fully open position.





Warning

Before removing the spring, cover the spring with a towel to prevent the spring from flying and possibly causing damage or personal injury.

3. Use the J 36604 to remove the hinge spring from the door.
Place the hinge spring tool J 36604 as close to each end of the spring as possible.
4. Remove and discard the old hinge spring.

Installation Procedure




1. Use the J 36604 to install the hinge spring to the door.
Place the hinge spring tool J 36604 as close to each end of the spring as possible.




2. Install the new hinge spring into the hinge.
Ensure that the hinge spring is fully seated and remove the J 36604 tool.
3. Inspect the door for proper operation.
4. Lubricate the hinge roller pins using multi-purpose lubricant Superlube GM P/N 12346241 (Canadian P/N 10953474) or an equivalent.
5. Close the door.
