Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve and Pipe Installation

Note: Inspect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) inlet/outlet pipes for leaks before installation. If cracks, deformations or any visible signs of leaking are present, replace the appropriate part.

1. Install the EGR inlet pipe into the RH exhaust manifold as the EGR valve adapter assembly is installed onto the cylinder head.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

2. Install the EGR valve adapter assembly to cylinder head bolts and the EGR inlet pipe to RH exhaust manifold bolt.

* Tighten the EGR valve adapter assembly to cylinder head bolts to 50 Nm (37 lb ft).
* Tighten the EGR inlet pipe to RH exhaust manifold bolt to 29 Nm (21 lb ft).

3. Install the EGR valve outlet pipe to the lower intake and the EGR valve adapter assembly.
4. Install the EGR valve outlet pipe bolt and nut and tighten to 29 Nm (21 lb ft).
5. Install the EGR valve gasket and EGR valve.
6. Install the EGR valve nuts and tighten to 29 Nm (21 lb ft).

7. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield.
8. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield bolts and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).

9. Install the heated oxygen sensor and tighten to 42 Nm (31 lb ft).
