Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement

Removal Procedure
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the lock nut (3) from the outer tie rod (1).
4. Loosen the jam nut (2) on the inner tie rod (1).
5. Using J 24319-B remove the outer tie rod from the steering knuckle.
6. Remove the outer tie rod (3) from the inner tie rod (1).
Installation Procedure
1. Install the outer tie rod (3) to the inner tie rod (1). Do not tighten the jam nut (2).
2. Install the outer tie rod (1) to the steering knuckle (2).
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).
3. Install the outer tie rod lock nut (3).
Tighten the tie rod lock nut to 30 Nm (22 lb ft) plus an additional 180 degrees.
4. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
5. Lower vehicle.
6. Adjust the toe alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment - Steering Wheel Angle and/or Front Toe Adjustment (Service and Repair).
