Strut Assembly Replacement (GNB)
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the front compartment sight shields. Refer to Front Compartment Sight Shields Replacement (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
3. Remove the stabilizer shaft link from the stabilizer shaft. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement (Front Suspension).
4. Support the lower control arm with hydraulic jack stand.
5. Remove the front shock absorber yoke nut (3).
6. Remove the front shock absorber yoke bolt (1).
7. Remove the front brake hose bracket (2).
8. Remove front suspension strut mount cover (1).
Note: Use the proper Torx(R) bit to hold the strut shaft while removing the front suspension strut mount nut
9. Remove the front suspension strut mount nut (2).
10. Remove the front suspension strut bumper (3).
Note: Lift the vehicle until the front strut assembly can be removed from the vehicle.
11. Remove the front suspension strut (1).
Installation Procedure
1. Position the front suspension strut (1) in the vehicle.
2. Install the front brake hose bracket (2) on the front shock absorber yoke bolt (1).
3. Install the front brake hose bracket (2) and the front shock absorber yoke bolt (1).
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).
4. Install the front shock absorber yoke nut (3) and tighten the nut to 70 Nm (52 lb ft).
5. Using the hydraulic jack stand, position the front suspension strut bumper (3) in the inner wheel house.
Note: Use the proper Torx(R) bit to hold the strut shaft while tightening the front suspension strut mount nut
6. Install the front suspension strut mount nut (2) and tighten to 55 Nm (41 lb ft).
7. Install the front suspension strut mount cover (1).
8. Remove the hydraulic jack stand.
9. Install the stabilizer shaft link in the stabilizer shaft. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement (Front Suspension).
10. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Service and Repair).
11. Remove the support stand and lower the vehicle.
