- Compass Internal Malfunction

Circuit/System Description

The serial data is transmitted over a Local Interconnect Network (LIN) single wire network circuit bus between a primary control module and other control modules within a particular subsystem. If serial data communication is lost between any of the control modules on the LIN bus network, a no communication code against the non-communicating control module will be set. Note: a loss of serial data communications DTC does not represent an inoperative module that set it. The compass module is connected to the body control module (BCM) via LIN bus.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The ignition is ON.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

This DTC indicates the compass module has set an internal DTC.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

There is no compass signal available.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

The internal memory check has passed.

Circuit/System Verification

Verify that DTC U152C, U152D or other BCM related DTCs are not stored.

If DTC U152C, U152D or other BCM related DTCs are stored diagnose those first.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Perform the compass calibration, refer to Compass Calibration and Magnetic Variance (Compass Calibration and Magnetic Variance). Verify the DTC B0931 does not reset.

• If the DTC resets, replace the K18 Compass Module.

2. Verify that DTC B0931 is not set.

• If the DTC still reset, replace the K9 BCM.
