DTC Descriptor
DTC B252C 00
- Child Security Lock Switch Circuit Malfunction
Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
The central door lock switch operates the child locks on the rear doors. The lockout switch is an input to the body control module (BCM) and the BCM controls the child door lock and unlock circuits to the rear door latches. The rear door latches will disable or enable input from the inside door handles when voltage is applied to the appropriate circuit when the BCM senses a change in the child security door lock signal circuit.
Conditions for Running the DTC
The system voltage is 9-18 V.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
The DTC will set when the BCM detects a malfunction in the child security door lock switch signal circuit.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
The rear interior door handles will be inoperative.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
* This DTC will be current for as long as the fault is present.
* When the fault is no longer present, the DTC will be a history DTC.
* A history DTC will clear after 50 ignition cycles.

Circuit/System Verification
Enable and disable the interior rear door handles by pressing and depressing the child security lock switch, the interior rear door handles should be enabled and disabled while changing between the commanded states.
Component Testing
1. Ignition OFF, verify that all doors are unlocked by pressing the UNLOCK on the central door lock switch.
2. Disconnect the X1 harness connector at the A20 radio/HVAC control.
3. With the rear windows rolled down, open a rear door by using the interior rear door handle. The rear door should open when using the interior rear door handle.
• If the rear door will not open, test the signal circuit terminal 5 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 BCM.
4. Install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 5 and ground.
5. Verify that a rear door will not open by using the interior rear door handle.
• If the rear door opens, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 BCM.
6. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the A20 radio/HVAC control.
Repair Instructions
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.
