Diagnostic Fault Information

Circuit/System Description

When the headlight switch is placed in low beam position, the body control module (BCM) applies a voltage to the dedicated daytime running lamps through their respective voltage supply circuits.

Conditions for Running the DTC

* The engine is running.
* Headlamp switch in AUTO position.
* The ambient light is day.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

B2605 01

The BCM detects a short to voltage on the control circuit.

B2605 02

The BCM detects a short to ground on the control circuit.

B2605 04

The BCM detects an open control circuit.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The appropriate headlamp is inoperative.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

The condition responsible for setting the DTC no longer exists.

Circuit/System Verification

Ignition ON, command the Right Dedicated Daytime Running Lamp test. The left daytime running lamp should be ON/OFF.

Circuit/System Testing

Note: If DTC B2605 04 is set, instrument panel fuse block fuse BCM 4 may also be open. Test circuit and fuse before BCM replacement.

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the E4D Daytime Running Lamp - Right.
2. Test for less than 5 ohm between the E4D Daytime Running Lamp - Right ground circuit harness connector terminal G and ground.

If greater than the specified value, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.

3. Connect a test lamp between the E4D Daytime Running Lamp - Right ground circuit harness connector terminal A and ground.
4. Command the Right Dedicated Daytime Running Lamp test ON and OFF with a scan tool. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when changing between the commanded states.

If the test lamp is always ON, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 Body Control Module.
If the test lamp is always OFF, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal, replace the K9 Body Control Module.

5. If all the circuits test normal, replace the E4D Daytime Running Lamp - Right.

Repair Instructions
