Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
The body control module (BCM) uses the ambient light sensor to determine which brightness of the accent light is needed. The BCM applies a pulse width modulated (PWM) voltage through the accent accent LED control circuit, daylight conditions 70%, night conditions 40% and as welcome light 100% illumination. The following LEDs will be illuminated, if equipped:
* Accent lamp - driver door handle
* Accent lamp - passenger door handle
* Accent lamp - left rear Door handle
* Accent lamp - right rear door handle
* Accent Lamp - Overhead Console Left Front
* Accent Lamp - Overhead Console Right Front
* Accent Lamp - Overhead Console Left Rear
* Accent Lamp - Overhead Console Right Rear
* Tube left
* Accent lamp - left Instrument Panel
* Accent lamp - right Instrument Panel

Circuit/System Verification
1. Observe the driver information center while opening and closing each vehicle door and the liftgate. The driver information center should display the door ajar/liftgate ajar message only when the door/liftgate is open.
• If the driver information center displays the door ajar/liftgate ajar message when a door or the liftgate is closed, refer to Door Ajar Indicator Malfunction (Door Ajar Indicator Malfunction)
2. When opening the passenger door the ambient illumination should go ON. When closing the driver door and locking the vehicle the accent light illumination should go OFF after 5 s.
• If the backlighting does not go ON and OFF, refer to Interior Accent Light Circuit Test.
Circuit/System Testing
Interior Accent Circuit Test
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connectors at the appropriate inoperative accent light.
2. Test for less than 5 ohm between the ground circuit terminal black wire and ground.
• If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
3. Exterior lights OFF.
4. Ignition OFF.
5. Close all doors and lock the vehicle, test for less than 0.3 V between control circuit terminal pink wire of the appropriate inoperative accent light and ground after 5 s.
• If greater than the specified value, test the circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuits test normal replace the K9 Body Control Module.
6. Unlock the vehicle.
7. Open the driver door.
8. Test for greater than 11 V between control circuit terminal pink wire of the appropriate inoperative accent light and ground.
• If less than the specified value, test the circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal replace the K9 Body Control Module.
9. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the appropriate inoperative accent light
