SERVICE UPDATE

Bulletin No.: 09279A

Date: October 25, 2010

Subject: 09279A - Service Update for Inventory and Customer Vehicles - Transmission Shift Cable Engagement Inspection - Expires October 31, 2010

Models:
2010 Buick LaCrosse

Supercede:
The expiration date for this bulletin has been extended to April 30, 2011. Please discard all copies of bulletin 09279, issued October 2009.

This service update includes vehicles in dealer inventory and customer vehicles that return to the dealership for any reason through April 30, 2011.

Purpose

This bulletin provides a service procedure to inspect and ensure that the transmission shift cable clip is fully engaged on certain 2010 model year Buick LaCrosse vehicles. If the cable is not fully engaged, it could separate from the clip when the driver attempts to shift the vehicle out of PARK. If a separation occurs, the driver could move the shifter; however, the transmission would remain in PARK. The shift indicator on the console and on the instrument panel would correctly indicate that the transmission was in PARK.

This service procedure should be completed as soon as possible on involved vehicles currently in dealer inventory and customer vehicles that return to the dealer for any type of service through April 30, 2011.

Vehicles Involved

A list of involved vehicles currently in dealer inventory is available on the "Service Update Bulletin Information" link under the "Service" tab in GM GlobalConnect (US) or attached to the GlobalConnect message (Canada) used to release this bulletin. Customer vehicles that return for service, for any reason, through April 30, 2011, and are within the VIN breakpoints provided below, should be checked for vehicle eligibility in the appropriate system listed below.

Important
Dealers are to confirm vehicle eligibility prior to beginning repairs by using the Required Field Actions section in the Global Warranty system. Not all vehicles within the above breakpoints may be involved.
