Service Procedure

Service Procedure

1. Open the hood.





2. Remove the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement in SI.





3. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement (LF1) or (LLT) in SI.





4. Locate the coil ground G122 (2). G122 (2) is the ground for coils 1, 3 and 5, and is located on the passenger's side of the vehicle at the rear of the cylinder head.





5. Locate the coil ground G123 (1). G123 (1) is the ground for coils 2, 4 and 6, and is located on the driver's side of the vehicle at the front of the cylinder head. Refer to the illustration for coil ground locations.

6. Inspect the ground connection at the G123 (1) location, which is on the driver's side of the vehicle at the front of the cylinder head.

6.1 Ensure that the ground connection is secure.

6.2 Using a torque wrench, tighten the fastener to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft). Do NOT over-tighten the fastener.





7. Inspect the ground connection at the G122 location, which is on the passenger's side of the vehicle at the rear of the cylinder head.





7.1 Use a mirror to locate the ground fastener G122. Refer to illustration.

Caution
The torque specification for the fastener at the G122 location is 20 Nm (15 lb-ft). You will not be able to use a torque wrench at this location. Carefully tighten the fastener at this location. Do NOT over-tighten the fastener.

7.2 Inspect the fastener with a wrench.

^ If the fastener is loose, tighten the fastener until the ground connection at the G122 location is secure. Do NOT over-tighten the fastener.

^ If the fastener is not loose, proceed to Step 8.





8. Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement (LF1) or (LLT) in SI.





9. Install the intake manifold cover. Refer to Intake Manifold Cover Replacement in SI.

10. Close the hood.
