Passenger Compartment Dimming 2 Circuit Short to Ground
DTC B2615 04
-
Passenger Compartment Dimming 2 Circuit Open
Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
Battery voltage for the courtesy lamps is supplied at all times to the body control module (BCM). When the BCM receives a signal to command the courtesy lamps ON, it then applies voltage through the courtesy lamps control circuits to the courtesy lamps.
Conditions for Running the DTC
The BCM attempts to illuminate the courtesy lamps.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
B2615 02
The BCM detects a short to ground on the courtesy lamp control circuit.
B2615 04
The BCM detects an open on the courtesy lamp control circuit.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
The BCM will not attempt to activate courtesy lamps.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
* The condition responsible for setting the DTC no longer exists.
* A history DTC will clear once 100 consecutive malfunction ignition cycles have occurred.

Circuit/System Verification
Command the 1st Row Interior/Courtesy Lamps ON and OFF with a scan tool. The courtesy lamps should turn ON and OFF when changing between commanded states.
Circuit/System Testing
Note:
Each courtesy lamp component may need to be disconnected to isolate a short to voltage or short to ground. Use the schematic to identify the following:
* Courtesy lamp components the vehicle is equipped with.
* Component locations on the accent lighting control circuit
* Each component's control and ground circuit terminals
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at any component with inoperative courtesy lamp.
2. Ignition OFF, scan tool disconnected, interior lamps OFF, doors CLOSED, test for less than 5 ohms between the ground circuit and ground.
• If greater than the specified value, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
3. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit and ground.
4. Command the 1st Row Interior/Courtesy Lamps ON and OFF with a scan tool. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when changing between the commanded states.
• If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 BCM.
• If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 BCM.
5. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the component with inoperative courtesy lamp.
Repair Instructions
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification Verification Tests after completing the diagnostic procedure.
* Refer to the appropriate replacement procedure for the component causing the condition.
