Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement
Removal Procedure
Note:
Arrange a place to embed the removed parts
1. Install the MDI, turn on the ignition and read the diagnostic trouble codes.
* Delete all diagnostic trouble codes and read diagnostic codes again.
* Notice ALL diagnostic trouble codes.
2. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
3. Remove the instrument panel assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement.
4. Remove the body control module (BCM). Refer to Body Control Module Replacement Body Control Module Replacement.
5. Release all mass cables from the tie bar and body weld studs.
6. Release the instrument panel wiring harness.
Take pictures from the routing and fixing points of the instrument panel wiring harness for the orientation.
7. Disconnect all electrical connectors and unscrew the ground cables.
1. Release all fixations.
2. Take care about destroyed cable straps and harness guidance regarding noises and rattles.
8. Remove the instrument panel wiring harness (2) from the instrument panel tie bar (1) and lay it on the floor.
9. Remove the instrument panel tie bar braces. Refer to Instrument Panel Tie Bar Brace Replacement Instrument Panel Tie Bar Brace Replacement.
10. Remove the 2 heater and air conditioning evaporator and blower module nuts (1).
11. Remove the heater and air conditioning evaporator and blower module bolt (2).
12. Remove the 4 instrument panel tie bar bolts (3).
13. Remove the instrument panel tie bar (4) from the vehicle with the aid of an assistant.
14. If replacing the instrument panel tie bar, transfer all parts as necessary.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the instrument panel tie bar (4) to vehicle with the aid of an assistant.
Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
2. Tighten the 4 instrument panel tie bar bolts (3) to 25 Nm (19 lb ft).
3. Tighten the heater and air conditioning evaporator and blower module bolt to 5 Nm (44 lb in).
4. Tighten the 2 heater and air conditioning evaporator and blower module nuts to 5 Nm (44 lb in).
5. Install the instrument panel tie bar braces. Refer to Instrument Panel Tie Bar Brace Replacement Instrument Panel Tie Bar Brace Replacement.
6. Install the instrument panel wiring harness (2) on the tie bar (1).
* Check if there is no twisting and bending and fix the wiring harness.
* Use new cable straps and pins. Connect all electrical connectors.
* Take care for the correct counterpart and the pin assignment.
* Use the pictures for orientation.
7. Tighten all mass cables to the weld studs to 9 Nm (80 lb in).
8. Install the body control module. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement Body Control Module Replacement.
9. Install the instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement.
10. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
11. Install the MDI, turn on the ignition and read the diagnostic trouble codes.
Delete all diagnostic trouble codes and read codes again.
12. Check all electrical functions and perform a test run.
