Radiator Replacement (Automatic Transmission)

Removal Procedure

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.

2. Remove the air conditioning condenser. Refer to Air Conditioning Condenser Replacement Service and Repair.

3. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716) Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716).

4. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement.




5. Remove the radiator inlet hose clamp (2) and the radiator inlet hose (1).

6. Remove the radiator inlet hose clamp (6) and the radiator outlet hose (5).

7. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor wiring harness plug (3).




8. Remove the ground cable nut (3) and the ground cable (4).

9. Disconnect the engine coolant fan resistor wiring harness plug (2).

10. Unclip the engine coolant fan wiring harness (6) from the 7 wiring harness clips (1,5,7). Hang the engine coolant fan wiring harness aside.

11. Remove the transmission oil cooler inlet and outlet pipe from the radiator. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet Pipe Replacement Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe Replacement and Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe Replacement Transmission Rear Mount Bracket Replacement (AWD).




12. Unclip the engine coolant fan shroud (1) at the 4 mounting points (2).

Note: Push the engine coolant fan to the right side.

13. Remove the engine coolant fan shroud in top direction from the radiator.




14. Remove the 2 radiator upper bracket bolts (1) and the 2 radiator upper brackets (2) from the radiator (4).

15. Remove the 2 radiator upper insulators (3) from the radiator.

16. Remove the radiator in top direction from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the radiator to the vehicle.

2. Install the 2 radiator upper insulators (3) to the radiator.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

3. Install the 2 radiator upper brackets (2) and the 2 radiator upper bracket bolts (1) to the radiator (4) and tighten to 22 Nm (16 lb ft).




4. Install the engine coolant fan shroud in top direction from the radiator.

5. Clip the engine coolant fan shroud (1) to the 4 mounting points (2).

6. Install the transmission oil cooler inlet and outlet pipe to the radiator. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet Pipe Replacement Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe Replacement and Transmission Fluid Cooler Outlet Pipe Replacement Transmission Rear Mount Bracket Replacement (AWD).




7. Position the engine coolant fan wiring harness (6). Clip the engine coolant fan wiring harness to the 7 wiring harness clips (1,5,7).

8. Connect the engine coolant fan resistor wiring harness plug (2).

9. Install the ground cable (4) and the ground cable nut (3) and tighten the nut to 10 Nm (89 lb in).




10. Connect the engine coolant temperature sensor wiring harness plug (3).

11. Install the radiator inlet hose clamp (6) and the radiator outlet hose (5) to the radiator (4).

12. Install the radiator inlet hose clamp (2) and the radiator inlet hose (1) to the radiator (4).

13. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716) Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716).

14. Install the air conditioning condenser. Refer to Air Conditioning Condenser Replacement Service and Repair.

15. Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement.

16. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
