Generator Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle (Standard) Service and Repair.
3. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement Service and Repair.
4. Fold the generator cap (2) aside.
5. Remove the generator positive cable retaining nut (3) and the generator positive cable (4).
6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement.
8. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement Service and Repair.
9. Remove the engine lift front bracket. Refer to Engine Lift Front Bracket Replacement Engine Lift Front Bracket Replacement.
10. Disconnect the generator wiring harness plug (1) from the generator.
11. Remove the 2 generator bolts (3).
12. Remove the generator nut (2).
13. Loosen the generator stud (1).
14. Remove the generator (4) in conjunction with the generator stud (1).
Installation Procedure
1. Install the generator (4) in conjunction with the generator stud (1).
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
2. Tighten the generator stud (1) to 9 Nm (80 lb in).
3. Install the 2 generator bolts (3) and tighten to 22 Nm (16 lb ft).
4. Install the generator nut (2) and tighten to 22 Nm (16 lb ft).
5. Connect the generator wiring harness plug (1) to the generator.
6. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement Service and Repair.
7. Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement.
8. Raise the vehicle.
9. Install the generator positive cable (4) and the generator positive cable retaining nut (3) and tighten to 17 Nm (13 lb ft).
10. Fold the generator cap (2) to the generator positive cable terminal.
11. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement Service and Repair.
12. Lower the vehicle.
13. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
