Variable Effort Steering

Power Steering (PS) Solenoid Actuator, Discharge Fitting Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the electrical connector from the power steering solenoid actuator (1).
2. Remove the power steering pump (1) from the vehicle.





3. Remove the retaining ring (2) from the power steering solenoid actuator (1).

Important: Note the orientation of the power steering solenoid actuator discharge fitting.

4. Remove the power steering solenoid actuator (1) and fitting.
5. Remove the O-ring seal from the power steering solenoid actuator.

Installation Procedure

Important: Note the orientation of the power steering solenoid actuator discharge fitting.

1. Lubricate and install the new O-ring seal with power steering fluid.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





2. Install the power steering fitting and actuator (1) to the pump.
Tighten the power steering solenoid actuator to 62 Nm (46 ft. lbs.).

Important: If a new power steering solenoid actuator (1) is being installed, position the electrical connector before installing the retaining ring (2).

3. Install the electrical connector to the power steering solenoid actuator.





4. Install the retaining ring (2) to the actuator (1).
5. Install the power steering pump (1) to the vehicle.
