Condition
Some customers may comment that the second row foot well is wet with dirty water. Water may also travel along the rear door rocker sill plate to the front seat footwell area.
Cause 1
The rear wheelhouse seam may not be sealed properly. Refer to the illustrations above.
Cause 2
There may be a hole in the upper front corner of the fenderwell. Refer to the illustration above.
Cause 3
A horizontal seam on the forward surface of the rear fender wells may be partially covered with undercoating. A potential exists for water to enter the seam along its entire length, particularly in the area of the radius behind the outer wheelhouse molding. See the illustration for seam location.
Correction 1
Seal the rear wheelhouse using the following procedure.
1. Remove the rear trim panel.
2. Clean the seam with an alcohol-based cleaner.
3. Seal the seam with Medium Body Seam Sealing Compound Urethane, P/N 12378501 (Canadian P/N 10952233) or equivalent.
4. Reinstall the trim panel.
Correction 2
1. Clean the seam with an alcohol-based cleaner.
2. Seal the seam with Medium Body Seam Sealing Compound Urethane, P/N 12378501 (Canadian P/N 10952233) or equivalent.
Correction 3
1. Raise the vehicle on the hoist.
2. Clean the seam area with soap and water. Blow dry with compressed air.
3. Apply a generous bead of Lord Fusor sealer on the seam and completely around the seam.
