Differential Side Bearings Replacement
^ Tools Required
- J 22912-01 Split Plate Bearing Puller
- J 809Z Driver Handle
- J 8107-3 Side Bearing Puller Pilot (9.5 inch axle)
- J 8107-4 Side Bearing Puller Pilot (8.6 inch axle)
- J 21784 Side Bearing Installer
- J 29710 Differential Side Bearing Installer
- J 44420 Differential Bearing and Hub Seal Installer

Removal Procedure
1. Remove the differential from the rear axle housing.
2. Remove the differential side bearings by doing the following:
2.1. Install the J22912-01 onto the differential case.
2.2. Install the J 8107-4 or the J 8107-3 onto the differential case bearing.
2.3. Remove the differential side bearings using the J22912-01 and a hydraulic press.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the differential side bearings by doing the following (8.6 inch, 9.5 inch axle):
1.1. In order to protect the differential case, install the J 8107-4 or the J 8107-3 in the case on the side opposite the bearing installation.
1.2. Install the J21784 (2), or the J29710 (2) onto the differential case bearing as shown.
1.3. Drive the bearing onto the case using the J 21784 (2), or the J 29710 (2) and the J 8092 (1).
2. Install the differential.
