Onstar Cellular Antenna Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Disconnect the coaxial cable from the cell antenna base.
2. Remove the cell antenna base from the glass, by using a wide-bladed plastic tool between the glass and the antenna base.
3. Remove the antenna mast from the outside of the antenna base.
4. Remove all residue by using a razor blade and isopropyl alcohol.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
IMPORTANT: The adhesion promoter must be used to assure adequate bonding of the base.
To obtain maximum adhesion between the new antenna base and the glass surface, the base and the glass must be kept dry and above 15°C (60°F) during the installation. Allow 6 to 8 hours at 15°C (60°F) for the adhesive to cure after installation.
Do not use any type of glue, adhesive tapes, etc. to reinstall the original antenna base. Doing so may eliminate the cellular signal to transfer through the glass and reduce the maximum performance of the system, including the air bag deployment notification.
1. Clean the glass at the installation location inside and outside with an alcohol wipe.
IMPORTANT: Apply Glass Adhesion Promoter P/N 12378555 (88901239 in Canada) to the area where you will install the antenna base. Follow the Glass Adhesion Promoter instructions on the product label.
2. Install the new antenna base to the outside of the glass so that measurement (a) is 12 mm (0.47 in) and measurement (b) is 215 mm (8.5 in) rearward of the third pillar.
3. Install the new antenna base to the inside of the glass so that measurement (a) is 12 mm (0.47 in) and measurement (b) is 215 mm (8.5 in) rearward of the third pillar.
4. Connect the coaxial cable to the cell antenna base.
