* Diagnostic Procedure Instructions provides an overview of each diagnostic category.

Circuit Description

The audio amplifier supplies 7 to 9 volts to the noise compensation microphone. The audio amplifier receives a signal from the noise compensation microphone to determine the amount of interior vehicle noise and adjusts the amplifier output accordingly.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the noise compensation microphone harness connector.
2. Ignition ON, test for less than 9.5 volts at the supply voltage terminal B.

If greater than the specified value, repair short to voltage.

3. Ignition OFF, test for greater than 1 ohm between the supply voltage terminal B and ground.

If less than specified value, repair short to ground.

4. Disconnect C3 amplifier harness connector.
5. Test for less than 1 ohm of resistance between the noise compensation microphone harness connector terminal B and amplifier harness connector terminal 14.

If greater than the specified value, repair open/high resistance.

6. Test for less than 1 ohm of resistance between the noise compensation microphone harness connector terminal A and amplifier harness connector terminal 6.

If greater than the specified value, repair open/high resistance.

7. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the noise compensation microphone.
