Liquid Line Replacement (w/C57)

Tools Required

* J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector
* J 45689 A/C Quick Connect Joint Tool

Removal Procedure

1. Recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
3. Remove the surge tank.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the wiper motor.
5. Disconnect the engine harness electrical connector.
6. Remove the surge tank outlet hose bracket nuts from the cowl.
7. Reposition the surge tank outlet hose.
8. Remove the brake booster.
9. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.




10. Remove the liquid line quick connect fitting from the condenser tube.
11. Disconnect the liquid line from the condenser tube.




12. Remove the liquid line quick connect fitting (1) from the evaporator.
13. Disconnect the liquid line from the evaporator.
14. Remove and discard the O-rings from the liquid line.

Installation Procedure




1. Install new O-rings to the liquid line.
2. Connect the liquid line to the evaporator.
3. Install a quick connect fitting (1) to the liquid line at the evaporator.
4. Connect the liquid line to the condenser tube.
5. Install a quick connect fitting to the liquid line at the condenser.
6. Install the brake booster.
7. Reposition the surge tank outlet hose to the installed position.




8. Install the surge tank outlet hose bracket nuts to the cowl.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.

Tighten the nuts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).

9. Connect the engine harness electrical connector.
10. Connect the electrical connector to the wiper motor.
11. Install the surge tank.
12. Install the air cleaner assembly.
13. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
14. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A.
