Power Sunshade Inoperative (Rear)

Power Sunshade Inoperative (Rear)

Diagnostic Aids

If the rear sunshade is experiencing an intermittent inoperative condition, check the rear sunshade switch ground circuit for an open condition. If the rear sunshade switch ground circuit is open, the switch may take a redundant path to ground through the illumination circuit. When the lights are turned ON, the redundant path is removed, and the sunshade will become inoperative.

If voltage is not measured on the rear sunshade switch open signal or rear sunshade switch close signal circuits, the fault could be in the RAP relay switch supply voltage circuit, battery positive voltage circuit, or rear sunshade control module ground circuits. If the rear sunshade control module is not being powered, neither will the rear sunshade switch signal circuits.

If the rear sunshade switch open signal circuit or rear sunshade switch close signal circuit is found to be short to voltage, the rear sunshade switch will most likely be open.

The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.
3. This step is used to determine the correct diagnostic path. The path depends on if the sunshade is inoperative and in the open position, or if the sunshade is inoperative and in the closed position.
4. This step tests the rear sunshade switch open switch.
5. This step tests the rear sunshade switch close switch.
