Symptoms - Displays and Gages
Important: The following steps must be completed before using the symptom tables.
1. Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle, before using the Symptom Tables in order to verify that all of the following are true:
* There are no DTCs set.
* The control modules can communicate via the serial data link. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
2. Review the system operation in order to familiarize yourself with the system functions. Refer to the following:
* Instrument Cluster Description and Operation
* Indicator/Warning Message Description and Operation
* Driver Information Center (DIC) Description and Operation
* Audible Warnings Description and Operation
Visual/Physical Inspection
* Inspect for aftermarket devices which could affect the operation of the Instrument Cluster or Audible Warning Systems.
* Inspect the easily accessible or visible system components for obvious damage or conditions which could cause the symptom.
* Inspect for proper fluid level.
Intermittent
Faulty electrical connections or wiring may be the cause of intermittent conditions. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Diagnostic Aids. Component Tests and General Diagnostics

Gages and Odometer
* Instrument Cluster Inoperative
* Driver Efficiency Gage Inaccurate or Inoperative
* Engine Coolant Temperature Gage Inaccurate or Inoperative
* Fuel Gage Inaccurate or Inoperative (Single Tank) Fuel Gage Inaccurate or Inoperative (Dual Tank)
* Hourmeter Inaccurate or Inoperative
* Speedometer and/or Odometer Inaccurate or Inoperative
* Tachometer Inaccurate or Inoperative
* Volt Gage Inaccurate or Inoperative
Indicators
* Engine Oil Pressure Indicator Always On
* Mirror Compass Display Inoperative or Inaccurate
* Mirrors - Temperature Display Inaccurate
* Mirrors - Temperature Displays SC or OC
* Service Indicator Always On for the MP 3023/3024-NQH transfer case
* Brake Warning Indicator Malfunction
* ABS Indicator Malfunction
* StabiliTrak Indicator Malfunction
* Low Tire Pressure Indicator Always On
* Low Tire Pressure Indicator Inoperative
* Charge Indicator Malfunction
* Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) Diagnosis for the 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, 6.2L, or 7.0L engine
* Tow/Haul Switch/Indicator Always On or Inoperative for the 4L60-E/4L65-E/4L70-E automatic transmission
* Tow/Haul Switch/Indicator Always On or Inoperative for the 6L50/6L80/6L90 automatic transmission
* Low Washer Fluid Indicator Malfunction
