DTC Descriptor
DTC B252E 02
- Child Security Lock Switch Indicator Circuit Short To Ground
Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
The body control module (BCM) will provide a ground for the child door lock indicator control circuit when the BCM receives a child door lockout command. The indicator will illuminate to indicate that the rear door latches have been disabled.
Conditions for Running the DTC
The system voltage is 9-16 V.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
The BCM has detected a short to ground on the child security lockout indicator control circuit for greater than 60 seconds.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
The child lockout system will function normally but the child security lockout indicator will be continuously illuminated.

Circuit/System Verification
Ignition ON, observe the function of the child security lockout indicator while pressing and depressing the child lockout switch. The child security lockout indicator should turn ON and OFF each time the child lockout switch is pressed.
Circuit/System Testing
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X2 harness connector at the K9 BCM.
2. Ignition ON, verify that the child security lockout indicator is OFF.
• If the child security lockout indicator is ON, test the control circuit terminal 6 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the A20 radio/HVAC control.
3. If all circuits test normal, replace the K9 BCM.
Repair Instructions
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.
