Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
The body control module (BCM) controls the child security lock relay when it receives a command to lockout the rear doors. The relay will apply voltage to both child security circuits at the rear door latches to disable the interior door handles.
Conditions for Running the DTC
The system voltage is 9-16 V.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
B3930 01
The BCM detects a short to voltage on the CHILD SECURITY PCB relay control circuit.
B3930 02
The BCM detects a short to ground on the CHILD SECURITY PCB relay control circuit
B3930 04
The BCM detects an open/high resistance on the CHILD SECURITY PCB relay control circuit or an open/high resistance in the rear fuse block ground circuit.
Action Taken When the DTC Sets
B3930 01
The interior rear door handles will always be inoperative.
B3930 02 or B3930 04
The interior rear door handles will continue to function when the child security lockout has been commanded and the BCM will command the lockout indicator to flash ON and OFF for 30 seconds to indicate a fault in the system
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
* The DTC will be current for as long as the fault is present.
* When the fault is no longer present, the DTC will be a history DTC.
* A history DTC will clear after 50 ignition cycles.

Circuit/System Verification
1. Ignition ON, observe the function of the rear interior door handles while selecting the child safety lock switch to LOCK. The rear interior door handles should be inoperative.
2. Observe the function of the rear interior door handles while selecting the child safety lock switch to UNLOCK, the rear doors should open when using the interior rear door handles.
Circuit/System Testing
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the X2 harness connector at the X53 fuse block-rear.
2. Test for less than 5 ohm between the ground circuit terminal 27 and ground.
• If greater than the specified range, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance.
3. Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 19 and the ground circuit terminal 27.
4. Ignition ON, press and release the child safety lock switch. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF with each press of the switch.
• If the test lamp is always OFF, test the control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 BCM.
• If the test lamp is always ON, test the control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 BCM.
5. If all circuits tests normal, replace the X53 fuse block-rear.
Repair Instructions
