DTC Descriptors
DTC P0658
- Solenoid High Control Circuit Group 1 Low Voltage

DTC P0659
- Solenoid High Control Circuit Group 1 High Voltage

Circuit/System Description

The transmission control module (TCM) high side driver 1 is located inside of the control solenoid valve assembly, which has no serviceable components. The high side driver 1 provides power to the TCM pressure control solenoids and shift solenoids. This fault is handled inside the TCM and no external circuits are involved.

Conditions for Running the DTC

P0658
* High side driver 1 is enabled.
* DTC P0658 has not set this ignition cycle.

P0659

DTC P0659 has not set this ignition cycle.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

P0658

The TCM detects an internal open or short to ground in the high side driver 1 circuit a total of 3 times out of 5 consecutive readings.

P0659

During TCM power-up and prior to the high side driver being enabled, the TCM detects an internal short to voltage on the high side driver 1 circuit a total of 3 times out of 5 consecutive readings.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

P0658
* DTC P0658 is a Type A DTC.
* The TCM turns the high side driver OFF.
* The TCM turns OFF all solenoids.
* The TCM commands maximum line pressure.
* The TCM freezes transmission adaptive functions.
* The TCM commands the TCC OFF.
* The TCM inhibits Tap Up/Down function.
* The TCM inhibits manual shifting of forward gears.
* The TCM limits the transmission to fifth and reverse operation.

P0659

DTC P0659 is a Type C DTC.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

* DTC P0658 is a Type A DTC.
* DTC P0659 is a Type C DTC.

Circuit/System Verification

1. Ignition ON, verify with a scan tool the High Side Driver 1 parameter displays Enabled.
2. Engine Running, gear selector lever in Park position. Verify with a scan tool the following test status parameters displays OK:

* High Side Driver. 1 Ckt. Low Voltage Test Status
* High Side Driver. 1 Ckt. Open Test Status
* High Side Driver. 1 Ckt. High Voltage Test Status

3. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running and Setting the DTC. The DTCs should not set. You may also operate the vehicle within the conditions that you observed from the Freeze Frame/Failure Records data.

Circuit/System Testing

Note: You must perform the Circuit/System Verification first.

1. Ignition OFF, remove the control solenoid valve assembly. Refer to Control Solenoid Valve and Transmission Control Module Assembly Replacement (Service and Repair).
2. Perform the Control Solenoid Valve and Transmission Control Module Assembly Inspection (Control Solenoid Valve and Transmission Control Module Assembly Inspection).
3. Place the control solenoid valve assembly on a clean work surface near the transmission assembly.
4. Connect DT-47825-20 - adapter harness between the vehicle wire harness electrical connector, and the control solenoid valve assembly electrical connector.
5. Ignition ON, verify with a scan tool the following test status parameters display OK:

* High Side Driver. 1 Ckt. Low Voltage Test Status
* High Side Driver. 1 Ckt. Open Test Status
* High Side Driver. 1 Ckt. High Voltage Test Status

If any test status parameter displays Fault or Malfunction, replace the control solenoid valve assembly.

Repair Instructions

Note:
* Perform the Service Fast Learn Adapts (Programming and Relearning) following all transmission related repairs.
* Before replacing the TCM, perform the Control Solenoid Valve and Transmission Control Module Assembly Inspection (Control Solenoid Valve and Transmission Control Module Assembly Inspection).

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.
