Rear Brake Backing Plate Replacement

Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Brake Dust Warning Brake Dust Warning.


1. Disable the parking brake cable adjuster. Refer to Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Disabling Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Disabling.
2. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
4. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.
5. Remove the park brake shoes. Refer to Parking Brake Shoe Replacement Service and Repair.




6. Remove the parking brake actuator (1). Refer to Parking Brake Actuator Replacement Service and Repair.
7. Remove the rear wheel bearing and hub assembly. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement Rear Suspension.




8. Remove the rear disc brake backing plate (1).

Installation Procedure




1. Install the rear disc brake backing plate (1).
2. Install the rear wheel bearing and hub assembly. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement Rear Suspension.




3. Install the parking brake actuator (1). Refer to Parking Brake Actuator Replacement Service and Repair.
4. Install the park brake shoes. Refer to Parking Brake Shoe Replacement Service and Repair.
5. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.
6. Enable the parking brake cable adjuster. Refer to Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Enabling Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Enabling.
