Brake Fluid Level Indicator Switch Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
2. Without draining the coolant and without disconnecting the hoses, remove and position aside the radiator surge tank. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement (LF1,LFW, or LFX) Radiator Surge Tank Replacement.
Note: Lift the dash panel insulator slightly to remove the upper master cylinder heat shield nut.
3. If equipped with the master cylinder heat shield, remove the master cylinder heat shield nuts (1).
4. Remove the master cylinder heat shield bolt (1).
5. Remove the master cylinder heat shield.
6. Disconnect the brake fluid level indicator switch electrical connector.
7. Remove the brake fluid level indicator switch (1) by compressing the locking tabs on the inboard side of the master cylinder.
Installation Procedure
Note: Ensure the brake fluid level indicator switch locking tabs are fully engaged in the master cylinder reservoir.
1. Install the brake fluid level indicator switch (1).
2. Connect the brake fluid level indicator switch electrical connector.
3. Install the master cylinder heat shield, if equipped.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
4. Install the master cylinder heat shield bolt (1) and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in)..
Note: Lift the dash panel insulator slightly to install the upper master cylinder heat shield nut.
5. Install the master cylinder heat shield nuts (1) and tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
6. Install the radiator surge tank. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement (LF1,LFW, or LFX) Radiator Surge Tank Replacement.
