Steering Gear Valve Solenoid Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
2. Place drain pans under the vehicle.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the steering gear valve solenoid (3).
4. Remove the 2 steering gear valve solenoid bolts (2, 4).
5. Remove the steering gear valve solenoid from the steering gear.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the steering gear valve solenoid (3) to the steering gear.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
2. Install the lower steering gear valve solenoid bolt (4) to the lower bolt hole and tighten to 0.5 Nm (4.4 lb in).
3. Install the upper steering gear valve solenoid bolt (2) to the upper bolt hole and tighten to 1.5 Nm (13.3 lb in).
4. Tighten the lower steering gear valve solenoid bolt to 2.9 Nm (25.7 lb in).
5. Tighten the upper steering gear valve solenoid bolt to 2.9 Nm (25.7 lb in).
6. Connect the electrical connector (1) to the steering gear valve solenoid.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding Service and Repair.
9. Clean any excess power steering fluid from the vehicle.
10. Remove the drain pans.
