SUBJECT: THM 125C TRANSAXLE SLIPPING IN ALL RANGES
MODELS AFFECTED: 1982 THROUGH 1985 CIMARRONS EQUIPPED WITH A THM 125C TRANSAXLE

FIGURE 1:
FIGURE 2:
Oil strainer and seal kit P/N 8652910 (refer to Figure 1), which incorporates a lip type seal, entered production by Julian date 150. This kit can be used to replace oil strainer and seal kit P/N 8631951 (refer to Figure 2) on a 1982 through 1985 THM 125C transaxle that exhibits the slipping condition.
Either design can be used to service all years and all models as follows:
SERVICE INFORMATION
1. If replacement of the oil strainer during transaxle service is necessary, remove the original seal from the case and use the new seal provided in the kit.
2. Always install the seal in the case first when installing the replacement oil strainer and seal assembly.
Important: Use the correct seal based on the design of the oil strainer filler neck. The "O" ring seal is used with the short-shouldered neck, the lip seal is used with the long-shouldered neck.
Refer to Section 7A of the appropriate Service Information Manual for removal and installation procedures.
