SHIFT BUSYNESS WHILE IN CRUISE CONTROL
1981-1982 4.1L V-6 ENGINE EQUIPPED WITH THM 200-4R OR THM 325-4L
Some 1982 Cadillacs equipped with 4.1L V-6 engines may experience a transmission shift busyness at highway speeds with the Cruise Control engaged. Shift busyness refers to cycling of the transmission between fourth and third gears. The condition is most noticeable while driving up inclines.
To correct the condition, install the appropriate service package into the control valve assembly using the following chart based on vehicle/transmission application.

The service package contains one each of the following:
3-4 throttle valve NOTE: THM 200-4R Additional Parts:
3-4 throttle valve bushing
3-4 throttle valve spring 3 - Coiled Steel Pins
Valve retaining clip (AM model only) 1 - TV Spring
Coiled steel pin 1 - TV Mod. Upshift Spring

Refer to Serviceman Bulletin 83-16 for on-car R & I procedures, the instruction sheet contained in the service package for installation of the above parts, as well as the Service Information Manual for proper disassembly and reassembly of the control valve assembly.
For warranty purposes, use Labor Operation Number K6560 at 1.2 hours for Deville and Brougham models and 1.6 hours for Eldorado and Seville models.
