Cruise Control Module: Description and Operation
The ECM receives input signals from the cruise control engagement switches, instrument panel switch, brake release switch, drive switch and speed sensor.
On models equipped with DEFI, the ECM also receives engine control signals. The ECM then processes these signals and transmits a command signal to the solenoid valve, regulating vacuum to the servo unit diaphragm. On some diesel engine equipped models, the cruise control module receives signals from the cruise engagement switch, instrument panel switch, electric brake release switch and speed sensor. The cruise control module then processes this information and transmits command signals to the vacuum control solenoid valve to provide necessary vacuum to the system and signals to the servo unit solenoid valve to control vehicle speed.
