Intake Manifold: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then drain cooling system.
2. Remove air cleaner.
3. Disconnect the following:
a. Upper radiator hose and heater hose at manifold.
b. Accelerator linkage at carburetor, linkage bracket at manifold and cruise control chain if equipped.
c. Booster vacuum pipe at manifold.
d. Fuel line at carburetor.
e. Transmission vacuum modulator line.
f. Idle stop solenoid wire, if equipped.
g. Distributor wires and temperature sending unit wire.
h. Vacuum hoses from, distributor TVS and EFE valve pipe, from carburetor to vacuum manifold.
i. Fuel economy and load leveler hose, if equipped.
j. Coolant by pass hose at manifold.
4. Remove distributor cap and rotor to gain access to left intake manifold torx head bolt. Use Tool J-24394 or equivalent to remove torx head bolt.
5. Remove accelerator linkage springs.
6. Remove compressor upper bracket, if equipped.
7. Remove intake manifold.
8. Reverse procedure to install.
