AC-DELCO REMANUFACTURED ENGINES
General Motors Service Parts Operations has informed Cadillac that they will offer remanufactured engines marketed with the AC-Delco trade name to all GM Dealers. GMSPO has announced national availability of this product to Dealers on April 1, 1993. These engines are available for a variety of 1989 and prior GM, Ford, and Chrysler model applications.
The availability of these engines provides an opportunity for your dealership to improve service sales by marketing an additional product. Cadillac recognizes the marketing potential of this product. However, to ensure the appropriate service needs of all Cadillac customers are met, we feel it is important to point out the intended market for these engines and our policy regarding their use in warranty and/or policy repairs. There are also specific warranty claim provisions unique to AC-Delco remanufactured engines.
AC-Delco remanufactured engines are intended solely for the retail (customer pay) market and are NOT to be used for warranty repairs or policy adjustments. Any new GM New Vehicle Warranty obligation requiring engine replacement is to be satisfied using only a replacement engine identified in GMSPO catalog groups 0.000, 0.000A, or 0.000B for the applicable vehicle. Lack of immediate availability of a service replacement engine from the above catalog groups is not a good business reason to authorize the use of an AC-Delco remanufactured engine for warranty or policy repairs.
We have undertaken this policy in the best interest of Cadillac customers. We are also confident this policy will not hinder or Interfere with your service sales and marketing activities. Your support is appreciated.
