Assembly
1. Install new inner and outer seals onto overrun clutch piston, making sure seal lips face away from clutch apply ring side.
2. Install seal protector J-29335, then lubricate piston seals and install piston into overrun clutch housing. To aid in piston installation, insert piston installing tool, see image, between seal and housing and rotate tool around housing to compress seal lip, white pushing down on piston.
3. Remove seal protector, then install waved spring and retainer into overrun clutch housing.
4. Install roller clutch cam into roller clutch assembly, making sure locating tangs on roller clutch assembly are flush with cam surface.
5. Install roller clutch and cam assembly onto overrun clutch hub, push assembly down, and install snap ring into hub groove.
6. Lubricate and install overrun clutch plates into overrun clutch housing, starting with a flat steel and alternating between composition and flat steel clutch plates, see image above step 2/Disassembly & Inspection.
7. Install backing plate, micro-finish down.
8. Install overrun clutch housing snap ring, making sure composition clutch plates turn freely in housing.
