A/T - THM 125C Manual Valve Change/Improved Shift Feel
SIL 83-19 (Apr)THM 125C
SUBJECT:
A change in the manual valve for 1987. This valve will retrofit all model years.
REASON: Improve "Reverse to Drive" Shift feel.
A temperature sensitive thermal element with an exhaust orifice has been incorporated into the manual valve of all THM 125/125C Models to control reverse fluid release during the apply of the forward clutch.
This will improve reverse to drive shift feel when the transaxle is at normal operating temperature. The thermal element opens the orifice during cold starting conditions, which reduces the potential for delayed engagement when shifting from reverse to drive.
New design Manual Valve with the Thermal Element can be used on all previous models. The part number is: 8664769
The retainer clip for the temperature orifice must be 11.2 mm +/- 0.2 mm (0.44" +/- .008") inside the link end of the Manual Valve for proper operation. If the Thermal Element has moved forward due to a retaining clip that has fallen out, the vehicle may exhibit a loss of Drive and/or Reverse. A clip that has fallen out may be located in the bottom pan.
